Red Earth Theatre has just emerged into the greater Verde Valley community from the concerns and energy of an experienced group of intrepid performing artists from Sedona and Cottonwood.

The mission of Red Earth Theatre is to provide a platform to inspire and nurture many voices through live performance, and encourage dialogue exploring the human condition in our diverse communities.

Red Earth Theatre's inaugural production Crushes and Bouquets: The Wine Show is a one-of-a-kind creation for the Sedona Winefest premiering on Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. The show will be offered again in Cottonwood on Oct. 11 at the Old Town Center for The Arts. This specially blended collage of words about wine and life from across cultures and through the ages performed live, travels from the land to the table, across the palette and into the body, mind, spirit and heart.

From Omar Khayyam, Ernest Hemingway and Homer to Pablo Neruda, Jane Taylor Starwood and the Pope, with Seinfeld, Chris Hitchens and Aimee Bender this variety of spoken word is brought to life by more than 12 actors. The cast includes Giselle Suarez, Linda Damita, Michelle Lambeau, Jeanie Carroll, Candace Copeland, Vismaya Hagelburg, Bob Copeland, Dave Ponzetti, David Perriman, Craig Hartley, Justin Ove, Henry Twombly with Kate Hawkes and Cathy Hartenstein as directors.

The fifth annual Sedona Winefest will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sedona Airport Vista parking lot.

The Winefest is designed to awaken the senses with a variety of fine wines from Arizona wineries, many from the nearby Verde Valley. The event also includes tasty cuisine from local restaurants, delightful music by talented musicians, a variety of vendors, a juried art exhibition, an education tent and an exclusive Premium tasting area.

General admission tickets are available online at SedonaWinefest.com at the early bird price of $20, $15 for seniors and Military, and at the door for $25 and $20. General admission includes an etched commemorative glass and six tasting tickets. The VIP Premium tasting area will offer samplings of premium Arizona wines not available in the General Admission area. Early bird pricing online for the Premium area is $40.00, and tickets are limited in number. At the door, Premium tickets will be $45.00, if still available. Each Premium admission includes a stemmed, etched commemorative glass and eight tasting tickets, four premium and four regular. Extra tasting tickets will be available inside the main tent.

Sixteen wineries from the Verde Valley, Willcox, and Prescott will be showcasing their latest wines. In addition to tastes, find your favorites, and purchase by the glass, bottle or case. The success of the Premium Tasting Area last year encouraged the Winefest organizers to expand the area this year to accommodate more patrons. A new outdoor seating area has been added to a larger indoor area, where specially selected wines are poured exclusively along with complimentary snacks.

The Juried Art Exhibition has also been expanded. This year's entries again include two dimensional and three dimensional art as well as photography. Winners can earn cash prizes, and most entries are available for purchase at the event.

The Winefest features a line up of delicious and inviting foods to complement the wines will be offered from local area restaurants Ken's Creekside, Mesa Grill, and Andiamo Pizza. Throughout the tasting area, there are also displays of goods and services from vendors ranging from corkscrews to helicopter trips. There will also be an opportunity to win a wide variety of prizes in a raffle held hourly.

The Sedona Winefest weekend will delight both experienced and aspiring wine connoisseurs, with wine education presentations by experts in the industry, including topics from how wine is made to comparing wine regions and why grapes grown in Arizona produce high quality wines.

Saturday evening on the stage in the main tent, Red Earth Theatre presents Crushes and Bouquets-The Wine Show. This is a live performance, offering a blended collage of words about wine and life from across cultures and through the ages. Select the Entertainment tab on SedonaWinefest.com and scroll down for more information and how to buy tickets.
