3/18/2013 6:11:00 PM Lisa Dahl + Sedona Elks Lodge = Southwest Dinner Gala
Chef Lisa Dahl with Dave Blauert
Sedona Elks Lodge #2291 at 110 Airport Road, presents a Southwest Dinner Gala in celebration of the unveiling of its new renovation on March 28.
Lisa Dahl, of Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante Italiano, Cucina Rustica and soon to be Pisa Lisa, pulls out all the stops, in her preparation of a New World, old-style, family-style southwest traditional meal. Dress attire will be in your favorite southwest style.
The meal will begin with a cocktail hour from 6-6:45 p.m. Margaritas, Sangria and Cervezas will be accompanied by a 7 p.m., sit-down feast - a night of "Community Spirit" at its finest. The dinner cost of $50 per person or $90 per couple will include two drinks and "soup to nuts," family-style feast.
Local celebrity Gail Edwards of TV fame, who has appeared in countless shows such as "Happy Days," "Lou Grant," "M*A*S*H" and "Taxi," will be on tap to emcee the night's lively affair.
Local favorite guitarists Bill Barns and Brian David team-up and duo their talents during the cocktail reception.
Many people do not realize the benevolence of the Elks Order. It is dedicated not only to Serving our Country but very much our local community.
The Elks National Foundation provides more than $3.3 million in college scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors. All applications must go through a local Elks Lodge.
Holiday programs consist of serving Thanksgiving Dinner to more than 967 Sedona residents and delivering meals to homebound members in the community.
In addition the Sedona Elks Lodge participates in the Steele Children's Research Hospital, Arizona Elks Youth Camp, the active military and veterans.
In bringing more awareness, the Elks Lodge of Sedona has teamed up with Lisa Dahl to reinvigorate the tired décor and re-establish the lodge as a joyful center for the community. Their hope is to promote a lovelier environment not only for their loyal members but for those wishing to have a wedding, graduation, or group functions as the facility really is the largest free standing building for such events.
The purpose of this Southwest Dinner Gala will be to unveil the new "attitude" of the Sedona Elks Lodge.
The proceeds will allow for further improvements needed such as window treatments, which are costly but necessary to finish the "face lift."
At the heart of this fund-raising event is the dedication of the Jack Jamesen Memorial Park. It is of the utmost importance to raise funds as well as awareness for a monument bronze sculpture that will honor the strength and courage of women who have heroically and selflessly fought for our Country's freedom.
At this present time renowned artists, James N. Muir, Susan Kliewer, Clyde "Ross" Morgan and John M. Soderberg are submitting their proposals and renderings for this body of work that will leave a legacy for visitors and locals to witness and reflect on for years to come.

Volunteers are always needed to help with these valuable community programs. You don't have to do it all. You can be "out front" in the community during our events, help raise funds "in the background" by volunteering to help with meals or Bingo, donating money or whatever your strengths are, choose any number of ways to an Elk. We are always looking for new and younger members who are willing and able to help us keep current with the times. "The Elks wants YOU."
