Valley Birding & Nature Fest
The annual Verde Valley Birding & Nature Festival, held the last full weekend in April, is in the process of planning for its 2013 event.
The event will focus on backyard birding as the festival committee has selected the theme of "Finches and Flowers."
The festival will partner with the local Iris Society who will hold their annual Iris Show during the festival.
"We are challenging artists to submit drawings for the use of the festival depicting finches and flowers," said organizer Barbie Hart. "We ask that the art submission include local species of finches and backyard flowers including the exoticly beautiful iris. The artist may select just one or several of the following finch species including Cassin's or house finch, American or lesser goldfinch, pine siskin, red crossbill or evening grosbeak. We will take submissions of art beginning now through March 2."
"We ask artists to donate the use of their work in exchange for the exposure this opportunity provides. They are recognized in the event booklet and website. The design is imprinted on the cover of the booklet, event t-shirt, postcards and any other promotional products included ads in national magazines. We only ask to have free use of it for the event and for recognition of the artist in the future."
Art will remain the property of the artist. They are free to sell any reproductions of the art. They may also request a free booth at the event to sell any of their works. The artwork can be of any media keeping in mind that we will need to create a digital file of the work in a high-resolution digital format for our use.
If you would like to submit your artwork, please contact Barbie Hart at 928.282.2202 or write her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Artwork may be brought to the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce for submission or may be emailed electronically to the address above. Please include contact information and a short bio.
