Exodus Day: Yavapai-Apache Nation hosts annual commemoration event

The Yavapai-Apache Nation will host its annual Exodus Day Commemoration Event on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Nation's Veteran's Memorial Park located below the Cliff Castle Casino.

The event commemorates the forced removal of the Yavapai and Apache People from their homeland in 1876 and the subsequent return of approximately 200 members to their homeland beginning in the early 1900s.

The Yavapai-Apache Nation invites the public to join them during the commemoration event.

• 6 a.m. Spirit Run, Junction of Hwy 87 and State Route 260, Tonto National Forest


Traditional Blessing Ceremony, Boynton Canyon, Sedona

• 8 a.m. Native American Artist/Food Booths Set-up, Veteran's Memorial Park, Camp Verde

• 10 a.m. Commemorative Walk and March, Yavapai-Apache Nation Cultural Resource Center

• Noon, Traditional Luncheon - Free to the Public, Veteran's Memorial Park, Camp Verde

• 1 p.m. Commemorative Ceremony/Entertainment, Veteran's Memorial Park, Camp Verde

• 9 p.m. Roger Wathogoma Band, Dragonfly Lounge, Cliff Castle Casino, Camp Verde
