12/5/2011 6:14:00 PM A Victorian Christmas with Dickens and Dinner
Celebrate the start of the Christmas season with a Victorian Dinner at Marketplace Café on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. Join us for a delicious Victorian-inspired dinner complete with the music of the season and Michael Peach as the world's most famous literary Victorian, Charles Dickens. From the classic Victorian bird through the greenery that decks the halls, the joy of Christmas will reign.
During dinner, Charles Dickens will take the stage to read a portion of his classic story, A Christmas Carol. You'll meet Scrooge, Tiny Tim and the ghosts as the spirit of Christmas returns once again.
With a Victorian-style menu that even Scrooge would enjoy, this is a perfect way to celebrate the holidays. Dinner begins with a savory soup followed by roast goose with sage and onion stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetables, rolls, mince meat and
applesauce or cranberry sauce. For dessert there's plum pudding with hard sauce, roast chestnuts and the traditional apples and oranges.
Your hostess for the evening is Fran LeRoy. So bring your friends and family for an evening of friendship and warmth as the holiday whirl begins. Reservations required. Accommodations can be made for vegetarians. For more information or reservations, call MPC at (928) 284-5478. The evening is $44.99 not including tax, gratuity and alcohol.
